6.1 Key datasets from EMSI
6.1.1 Core Labor Market Information (LMI)
- Employment by race and gender, across region
- Unemployment by industry groups or occupation groups, across region
- Skill transferability: O*NET occupations that share similar knowledge, skills, and abilities to a selected occupation
- Talent Supply by Compensation: Wage distribution in a given region
6.1.2 Staffing Patterns
Staffing patterns show the occupational makeup of an industry at county level. EMSI takes national OES staffing pattern and models it at county level.
6.1.3 Gross Regional Product
EMSI provides historical GRP data down to the ZIP level for all 6-digit industries. Note that EMSI is not using BEA’s Gross County Product, for reasons they detailed here.
6.1.4 Job Postings and Job Profiles
EMSI provides a unique skill supply and demand dataset using scrapped job postings, and job profiles.(Job profiles include public Linkedin profiles, resumes through partnership with CRM databases, resume databases and applicant tracking systems) EMSI then extracts and classifies skills from job postings and resume. Each skill is classified as a hard skill, soft skill, or certification. Certifications are recognizable qualification standards assigned by industry or education bodies (e.g. “Cosmetology License” or “Certified Cytotechnologist”).

6.1.5 Education
- Educational attainment by race and gender, across regions
- Academic programs completions, openings and earnings across regions

Yearly population movement between US counties based on data from IRS.
